Streamate Spotlights Avril Heals as April 'Elevate' Community Partner

LOS ANGELES — Streamate has selected Avril Heals, a provider of creative arts healing spaces, as its Elevate Community Partner for the month of April.

The cam company's Elevate initiative aims to recognize members and allies of the adult industry "working to positively impact their community through advocacy, direct support and/or creative endeavors," said a rep.

Avril Heals was founded by Minnie Scarlet and Jae Ortiz after they lost their close friend Exene Avril. They envisioned the organization as "a tribute to honor and uplift trauma survivors," the rep noted. The organization "puts accessibility and inclusivity at the forefront by offering creative arts healing spaces centering around BIPOC, queer people and sex workers who have experienced gender and race-based trauma."

Ortiz, a trauma recovery coach and art therapist in training, explained in more detail.

"When building creative art spaces through Avril Heals, we focused on what we personally understood so that our approach could resonate with other sex workers, queer people and BIPOC that were like us," they said.

Community Partners are spotlighted for a one-month period and given the opportunity to collaborate with Elevate on original content and/or livestream events.

Streamate Director of Community Relations and Elevate creator Vanessa Eve praised Avril Heals' work.

"The amount of care and intention that Minnie and Jae have infused into Avril Heals is palpable," she said. "It's inspiring to see individuals recognizing needs within their community and being proactive to meet those needs, especially in situations where there may be limited or inaccessible options."
